Crossflow Filter - Tangent "XF Barrel"

Not rated yet

The XF Barrel is designed to process much larger batch sizes than the XF Mini and is just as easy to operate. With over 44 times the surface area it is ideal for processing volumes which where previously considered too small for larger commercial machines. By utilizing spiral membranes the XF Barrel has a large amount of surface area in comparison to the same square footage of a hollow fiber membrane. With just two four foot membranes the XF Barrel packs in 160ft² (15 m²) of membrane surface area. They are also much more durable and less expensive to replace.

Includes 2 standard membrane cartridges.

Easier to operate than a conventional pad filter you do not need to saturate filter pads nor do a separate rough and polishing step. The spiral membranes can also allow for higher operating pressure for higher flux. In addition the holdup is volume is minimal at just under three gallons.

By removing only one hose the pump can also be used as a basic transfer pump. It can deliver up to 28gpm at 140 ft of head (60psi). The onboard variable frequency drive allows the operator to increase or decrease the pump when desired. An optional hand held speed control is also available.

While “crossflow” is a common term for clarifying within a specific range of microns the process is actually referred to as Microfiltration within the spectrum of filtration. Crossflow is defined as the process by which the fluid moves tangentially across a membrane surface while a portion passes through as permeate. This is to sustain higher flux rates rather than rapidly clogging a flat sheet membrane as in the case of pad filtration. No other tangential filtration system compares in price and performance.
