Chitosan, part 2 of a 2 part kit used to clarify one 23L/5gal batch of wine. A preferred fining combination for the home winemaker.

When your wine has finished fermenting, you may want to use fining agents to clarify your wine.

How to Clarity/Fine Your Wine

  1. Slowly add Part 1- Kielselsol D1 to the wine, and stir well for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Slowly add Part 2- Chitosan D2 to the wine, and stir well for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Make sure that the carboy is full to within 2" of the top. If you need to top up, add finished wine (homemade or purchased). Do not add water.
  4. Let the wine clear for 2 weeks at a temperature of 15-18°C.
  5. Rack the wine into a clean, sanitized carboy, leaving the sediment behind.

Your wine is now ready to bottle.

If you want to bulk age your wine in the carboy, wait to add the fining agents until 2 weeks before your bottling date.
